L’Occitane Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid

L'Occitane Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid

I have been using this product as a primer, or what some might consider just an extra step after moisturizer.  I mostly have been using this on the warmer days since with the flip-flop weather in my area, my skin has been freaking out.

Despite that this is sold as as skin care product, as opposed to a cosmetic item I think it works great double duty as both.

I would rate this product 8/10

There are a huge number of positive aspects with this product, hence the rather high rating.  For starters I do enjoy the scent of the product.  I typically prefer face products scent free, but the subtle mixture of baby powder and a slight hint of lilac make this product a nice subtle scent that fades quickly.   The pump bottle helps keep the product fresh from contamination and makes dispensing the product extremely easy.

In terms of actually using this product the initial texture is odd.  It is somewhere between a cream and a jell, and almost has a slight jello consistency to it.  The product also can feel a bit grainy when you first pump it from the bottle, however it soon puffs up a slight bit (the closest thing I can compare it to is the gel that fills diapers which puffs up with water).  This does an excellent job with holding oils at bay, and I think it would work great for others with mild – moderate oil issues.  This may not be ideal for someone with very oily skin.  Additionally the fact that you get a full ounce, and only need about 1/60th of that helps a ton with the price tag.

Okay, the big set back on this product is locating it, and the cost.  At 26 dollars it is a bit pricey.  Even with the high number of uses you will get from one bottle it is still fairly expensive, granted this is no more expensive than makeup wipes which are intrinsically a waste of money.  I also do not like that you need to give the product a few minutes to dry.  While I do not think that is much for a product to ask, I am also typically in a major rush in the mornings.  Since the product is a slightly thicker texture, even when it is put on in a very thin layer it can take a few minutes to dry.

Whom I would recommend this product too:

  • Those with mild to moderate oily skin.
  • Individuals who are not in a rush in the morning.
  • Those willing to pay a premium price for the product.

This product can be purchased online.

Ps. Why the heck do I know about diapers and what they are made of?  I don’t even have a kid.

This product was purchased with my own money for my own personal use.
